Wal-Mart is recognized as a leader in sustainable store design. When they decided to retrofit their stores to T8 lamps and electronic ballasts, Wal-Mart turned to FSG for a turn-key solution. By upgrading to T8 lighting systems, Wal-Mart reduced the electrical load at their stores 15-20%. The FSG team upgraded 474 stores in just over 12 months. The project produced $20 million in savings the first year, and had a payback of 1.2 years. FSG was able to obtain over $3 million in utility rebate money that also reduced the cost of the project.
